Full-time Adult Discipleship Pastor
Title: Pastor of Adult Discipleship
Reports To: Senior Pastor
Overview: The Pastor of Adult Discipleship is responsible for implementing strategies that ensure adults are growing into fully mature followers of Jesus through learning experiences and service opportunities at Eastview Community Church or through their partner ministries. This includes oversight of Life Groups Ministry and occasional speaking.
Confession of Faith: The Pastor of Adult Discipleship shall be in full agreement with the Eastview Community Church Statement of Faith, Eastview Community Church Core Values, and the Canadian Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches Confession of Faith.
Spiritual Gifts: The Pastor of Adult Discipleship must have the gift of Teaching. Other gifts beneficial to this position are Administration, Discernment, Encouragement, Leadership, and Shepherding.
Major (Primary) Ministry Responsibilities:
1) Implement a comprehensive, practical and “stage-sensitive” model for adult discipleship (60%)
a. The primary responsibility of the Pastor of Adult Discipleship is to implement a biblically-based plan for discipleship ministries in the church. This position includes coordinating learning experiences and developing a strategic plan for the spiritual development of the adult congregation.
b. The Pastor of Adult Discipleship works with the rest of the staff and leadership to discuss and develop strategies for disciple-making within the church.
c. The model provides a coordinated approach that will help Eastviewer’s find ways to understand their gifts and interests, and engage in a life of active discipleship.
2) Co-ordinate Adult Learning Experiences (20%)
a. Provide overall direction to the Life Groups and support for learning experiences (i.e. MidWeek Community) related to adult discipleship at ECC.
b. Identifies, recruits and trains teachers, coaches and mentors to assist as needed.
3) Engage Winnipeg (10%)
a. Connects with partners to maintain relationships and create service opportunities.
b. Communicate regularly, through a variety of media, opportunities for service and stories of engagement.
4) Weekend Service Planning/Participation (10%)
a. Work with Senior Pastor to brainstorm the theme(s) for the Teaching Series
b. Assist in creating graphics and other promotional material for the Teaching Series

The Pastor of Adult Discipleship must be a Spirit-filled Christian living a life of Christian integrity demonstrated through the fruit of the Spirit. His/her words and actions must be consistent. He/she should demonstrate the character and qualities of 1 Timothy 3. This person must have personal and spiritual integrity, be a team player, competent to execute the ministries under their charge in the context of the larger church, and through servant leadership be able to connect with others in a positive manner. It is expected that each staff member will become a member of Eastview Community Church. If married, it is important that both the pastor and the spouse understand the significance of their roles in the ministry team and that the support of the spouse is instrumental to their success in ministry.
Effective communication and teaching skills for a varied audience of learners and learning environments
Effective coaching/mentoring skills
Role modeling positive leadership that brings others alongside
Excellence in leading and equipping volunteers and small group leaders
Current in discipleship teaching trends and issues, within the church and society
Understanding the need for participating in administrative functions
Education and experience working in a fully computerized learning environment
Organizational skills and ability to manage both teams and tasks in a non- threatening environment through delegation, accountability and evaluation
A positive outlook and team player attitude
Good rapport with volunteers and participants
Willing and able to deal with questions and criticism in a mature, loving fashion
Renumeration and Benefits:
Annual salary is in alignment with existing MBCM guidelines. 3 weeks vacation, a pension and benefits package including extended health, vision and dental coverage.
