We are looking for an Associate Pastor to join our Pastoral Team

Pastoral Profile
In our search for an associate pastor, we are looking for a humble, servant leader who is passionate about raising others up to serve and follow Jesus. A person with life and ministry experience is an asset but not absolutely required. This person would be marked by the following characteristics:

In Personal Life:
1. Dependent on God
• experiences a healthy relationship with God and understands the heart of spiritual disciplines as a way to hear from God
• motivated by a surrender to his call rather than by personal ambition or neediness
• seeks times of personal renewal where perspective can be restored and God can be heard

2. Personally Balanced/Healthy

• has outside interests and hobbies – beyond work
• knowledgeable and comfortable with who they are – as a result they know their limitations and are able to set personal boundaries
• if married, enjoys their spouse’s full support (i.e. They share a love for the church and have agreement on their respective roles and involvement in ministry). They model wholesome (not perfect) family life and deliberately protect their time so as to maintain healthy balance
• a self starter (comes with batteries!) who experiences set backs without defeat and in adversity acts with integrity

In Leadership
1. Coaches, Equips and Empowers
• equips and releases people to lead and carry out ministry (formal and informal leadership development)
• oversees the development and implementation of intentional discipleship relationships
• matches the gifts of people with ministry needs and opportunities and encourages others to do the same
• delegates effectively particularly in areas of personal limitation
• encourages
• has administrative ability

2. Mobilizes for Vision
• shares our vision
• continues to shape and develop our ministry model
• approaches challenges as opportunities rather than obstacles
• believes in God’s capacity to do great things
• makes right decisions, not necessarily popular ones

3. Builds Team
• works well with lay leaders and staff
• engages others in meaningful ministry
• monitors the morale of people
• leads by example
• utilizes groups effectively
• depersonalizes dissent
• deals with conflict assertively, constructively, and tactfully

4. Values and Utilizes Functional Structures and Systems
• implements organizational structure that supports our mission and vision and resonates with our ministry model
• effectively plans, so that as the church grows structures also grow
• is comfortable working through others to lead and care for the body

In Relationships
1. Relates to “People”
• values people where ever they are on their journey and has a passion to see them take their next step with God
• recognizes that, people whether believers or unbelievers, fundamentally have the same needs
• moves and functions in the “personal space” of the unbeliever without fear
• is a safe person to all on the journey – recognizing that loving people is the greatest contribution to empowering them to change

2. Responsive to Community
• takes interest in the community and has a heart for it
• responds to community needs on a priority basis such that resources are most efficiently used
• openness to partner with other churches, groups in reaching and discipling people for Christ

3. Builds Relationships
• is approachable and encouraging
• gets to know people (particularly leaders) on a personal basis
• makes others feel secure and comfortable in their presence
• willing to move toward his critics, grace-filled in demeanor

There is a substantial commercial area 1km to the north (8th Street) and we are bordered on the east and south by Circle Drive, the main highway around Saskatoon.
