Part-time Donations Data Entry / Accounts Payable Clerk

Job Description

Part-Time: Hours considered based on skillset of applicant
Location: Lynden, Washington OR Fraser Valley, B.C.
General Purpose
To collect and enter data from multiple sources accurately and efficiently and to verify, post and file confidential information for the accounting manager.
Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities
• Prepare, compile and sort documents for data entry, verifying correcting and updating data where necessary
• Obtain further information for incomplete documents
• Verify information from cheques and online transactions and enter them into the donations software accurately and efficiently
• Scan documents into document management systems or databases
• Check completed work for accuracy and store completed documents in designated locations
• Respond to requests for information and access relevant files
• Comply with policies and procedures in place for accuracy and security
• Open, sort, and scan incoming mail. Prepare outgoing mail for delivery
• Calculate, prepare and issue documents related to accounts such as bills, invoices, account statements and other financial statements using computerized and manual systems
• Code, total, batch, enter, verify and reconcile transactions such as accounts payable and receivable, purchase orders, cheques, invoices, cheque requisitions and bank statements in a computerized database, spreadsheet or other templates
• Prepare period or cost statements or reports, import and/or export data between different kinds of software. Verify accuracy and completeness of data
• Respond to customer inquiries, maintain good customer relations and solve problems
• Perform related clerical duties, such as word processing, maintaining file and record systems, faxing and photocopying
• Experience with U.S. Payroll would be considered an advantage, not required
• High school diploma or GED required
• Good understanding of accounting principles and experience is an asset
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail is essential
• Self-starter capable of working independently with minimal supervision
• Effective problem solver and team player who enjoys learning and contributing to team goals
• Proficient in relevant computer applications such as MS Office
• Accurate keyboard skills and ability to enter data at the required speed
• Excellent attendance history
• Planning and organizing
• Information collection and management
• Ability to work under pressure
