Full-Time Food Security Advisor

Job Description

MCC Nepal’s food security projects involve increasing agricultural production and strengthening livelihoods, improving nutrition knowledge, and building the capacity of local farmers’ groups and community-based organizations. The Food Security Advisor will work with MCC Nepal’s partners providing advice and training for the food security work being carried out, as well as assisting with planning, monitoring and evaluation of projects. The position will require a lot of travel and initiative.

MCC Nepal implements all programming through Nepali organizations, providing funding and support to partners across the country working in the sectors of food security, health, education, peace, and disaster relief. Food security and sustainable livelihoods is the largest programmatic area. In 2014/2015 MCC Nepal is supporting 8 food security projects with 5 partners in 7 districts spread out across Nepal. Currently there are 3 national staff, 4 expatriate service workers, and two SALTers serving with MCC in Nepal. This position will be supervised by the MCC Representatives for Nepal and will work closely with the MCC Nepal Program Coordinator.

The start date for this three-year assignment is January 26, 2015.
