Full-time Male Resident Director
Bethany College’s Thrive program is looking for a Male Resident Director to assist in creating a Christ centered living and learning environment for our students.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Take initiative to personally meet each student to discover their needs and interests while treating all students with respect and without favour. The goal is to establish a mentoring relationship with each student.
Other duties include planning weekly fun/community events, planning and overseeing weekly dorm chapels, assist in helping with student travel to ministry locations, and implement strategies that will aid in building community within the residence and on campus.
2. Behavior Management
While working towards ‘restorative justice’, monitor and manage student behavioural issues, ensure open lounge hours and guidelines are respected, and aid in planning and supervision of student ‘chores’ and other custodial needs.
3. Student Problem Areas
The Resident Director should continually be on the lookout for and assist with helping students struggling in academics (procrastination, failing, needed extra tutoring, missed classes, etc.) or falling into unhealthy behavioural patterns (eating habits, relationships, etc.).
4. Team Building
- Meet weekly with the Thrive Program Director for the purpose of accountability, goal setting, counsel, sharing, prayer, etc.
- Meet weekly with the Thrive Program Team for team building, idea sharing, information, etc.
- Understand and assist with implementing program goals, objectives, and learning outcomes to ensure that the team is moving in the same direction.
A degree in Christian Ministry, Counselling, or another related field.
Must have valid First Aid/CPR or the willingness to obtain it before starting.
- Personal Requirements:
The Resident Director should have a growing, personal faith in Jesus Christ, a passion to minister and mentor others, good listening skills, leadership and administrative abilities, be able to work as part of a team, show respect for people of differing backgrounds, and have a desire to continue to grow both personally and professionally.
The Resident Director must be in agreement with and sign Bethany’s statement of faith and community life standards.
The Resident Director must submit a criminal/child abuse background check before the start of employment.
The Resident Director is required to live on campus in the suite that is provided for them.

Compensation: An honorarium will be provided in addition to room and board. Start Date: August 27, 2018
