Youth For Christ Winnipeg is a team of passionate people, including staff, volunteers, and ministry partners. We are people with a common desire to see young people reach their full potential in every area of life. We are 4,000 donors, 95 staff, mobilizing 300 volunteers to work with more than 6,000 youth through a variety of environments.
Our passion is to combine healthy relationships with creative programs to help young people make good choices, establish a solid foundation for principled living and investigate Christian faith. We want to see young people reach their full redemptive potential.
YFC Winnipeg is a grassroots organization that specializes in meeting the needs of teenagers. The Winnipeg Chapter of Youth For Christ began in 1954 and over time has evolved and matured in its mandate to address the needs of the whole person, where discipleship/evangelism is the primary focus.
We show concern for the social, physical, employment, health, and spiritual needs of teenagers. We accomplish this through a diversity of programs that engage today’s youth sub-cultures.
Job Description – Senior Ministry Supervisor
To ensure the mission of evangelism/discipleship is accomplished in the ministries under your supervision, helping ministry directors develop their God-given potential and make a valuable contribution to the kingdom of God.
MISSION OVERSIGHT: 25%
Ensure the mission of evangelism/discipleship happens by keeping updated and informed of each ministry department. Listen actively through regular appointments with Ministry Directors. You are expected to meet face to face with the Ministry Director at least every two weeks. You are expected to observe at least one ministry evening and/or activity from each department once per month.
PROVIDE SPIRITUAL/PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT & PASTORAL CARE 20%
Provide meaningful encouragement, praise and recognition to Ministry Directors by celebrating progress, personal achievements, and “God-moments.” Provide care to the Ministry Directors under your supervision through prayer, acts of kindness/service, providing counsel, pastoral care and referral as needed. Oversee the leadership skill development of the Ministry Directors by encouraging and facilitating leadership training events and access to resources that enhance the mission of YFC. Debrief and establish action plans so that the learning is not lost.
Assist the Ministry Directors in the annual strategic planning/ budgeting process in a way that eliminates roadblocks, maximizes evangelism/discipleship opportunities, maximizes resources and focuses priorities in keeping with our mission. Track its implementation and recommend necessary adjustments as the year progresses. Attention also needs to be given to assisting directors in the business side of the running the ministry (i.e. finances, administration, marketing and operations).
EVALUATE & DEVELOP: 25%
Work with HR in carrying out a yearly evaluation that measures the expected outcomes/performance standards of the past year, identifies the talents/strengths of the staff, ensuring their best fit, and that outlines a shared understanding of the expected outcomes/ performance standards for the upcoming year.
Assist the Ministry Directors in the recruitment of staff for their ministries, with special responsibility to recruit new Ministry Directors when a department is without a director. Oversee the spiritual discernment process to confirm God’s calling.

•Post secondary education preferred. Preference given to those with educational background in Youth Ministry or Biblical Studies.
•Understanding the Christian faith
•At least three years experience working with children and/or youth required.

•passionate about the mission of youth evangelism and discipleship.
•Leadership Gifting: Able to envision the future and overcome obstacles by inspiring, motivating and equipping others. Able to provide affirmation and provide new challenges that enables staff/volunteers/youth to take additional steps towards realizing their full potential and grow in their spiritual maturity.
•Personal Capacity: Has the ability to handle multiple projects/ assignments
•Team Player: Desires to be part of the larger kingdom movement and speaks well of other Christians and their ministries and churches. Rejoices when other ministries grow and mature.
•Self-motivated: Has a strong work ethic. Able to complete tasks with little supervision, committed to excellence and possesses a strong desire to honor God with their abilities.
Salary through Ministry Partner Development
The salary of this position, after being determined on a scale based on education and work-related experience, is funded through Ministry Partner Development, which is made possible in two ways: first, by donations made to Youth for Christ from family, friends, and acquaintances of a particular staff member, which enable Youth for Christ to care financially for that staff member; second, by the prayer of others. Ministry Partner Development is literally developing partnerships with others who will come alongside you, pray for you, and care for you. You’ll be amazed by the people who will want to partner with you and stand behind you and the mission of YFC.
Also, Ministry Partner Development acquaints each staff person with a real need to trust God’s provision. We have found that to begin in ministry by having to rely on the supply of our Heavenly Father, brings one face-to-face with the reality of faith. After all, faith is not a thought that surfaces in reflection or anticipation, but is that which occurs in the moment of action. To trust God for money can lead one into the habit of trusting Him for other spiritual essentials.
