Education Assistant

Heritage Christian Online School is a thriving online learning community offering K-12 home and online education to students across the province. HCOS provides flexible solutions and programming tailored to every child’s learning journey.

HCOS Education Assistants are independent contractors who provide program support, behaviour and academic interventions, and encouragement to Home Learners within the Inclusive Education Department.

The Position:

We are seeking a dynamic Education Assistant to work with students in the family home for the 2026-27 school year. This is a part-time contract position that may grow in hours over the course of the school year, depending on student needs and EA skill sets.

Location: Vancouver, Salmon Arm, Kelowna and other communities in BC
Grades: K-12
Schedule: Flexible during the 2026/27 school year

As the Education Assistant, your duties and responsibilities will include:

• Supporting the social, spiritual, and academic learning needs of students, providing mentorship to the whole person
• Differentiating learning based on student ability and learning styles
• Collaborating with the Case Manager and the parent to support personalized learning opportunities
• Assisting in carrying out IEP goals, working alongside the broader student support team

We are looking for someone with the following qualities:

• Background working in Education, EA Support, Behaviour Intervention, or with children/youth
• Professionals with non-EA specific credentials are encouraged to apply (e.g., psychology, behaviour analysis, social work, coaching, mathematics, etc.)
• A valid Certified Educational Assistant certificate (or training in process) is considered an asset
• Subject matter knowledge in the applicable grade levels or willingness to learn
• Alignment with our Biblical Attributes & demonstrates a commitment to, and a lifestyle reflective of, the KCCS Foundational Beliefs
• Technologically proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Zoom, etc.
• A valid Class 5 driver’s license

 What we offer:

• Competitive Wage: $23.97 – $28.13 hourly, depending on certification and experience
• 10-30 hours/week, depending on student need
