Full-time Associate Pastor

Job Description

The Associate Pastor, reporting to and in conjunction with the Lead Pastor, will shape the ministries of Mountain Park Community Church to equip disciples to be effective and fruitful in their everyday lives. The two primary settings include direct oversight of Youth Ministries and equipping in Team Development. A specific breakdown of responsibilities includes:

Youth and Children Ministries: 50%
● Provide leadership, strategy and oversight to shape Youth Ministries to equip young disciples to be effective and fruitful in their everyday lives
● Lead midweek and weekend ministries for Middle School and High School
o Recruit, equip and shepherd a team of volunteer youth leaders
o Engage, equip and encourage parents
o Identify, mentor and empower student leaders
o Provide teaching, discipleship and pastoral care for students
● Serve as the primary connection between Children’s Ministry Team and staff
o Encourage and support Children’s Ministry Leaders

Team Development: 30%
● Shape Mountain Park’s Life Group ministry in a manner consistent with our vision and values
o Recruit, equip, support and encourage Life Group leaders
o Raise the profile of evangelism in the Life Group ministry
● Provide encouragement, direction and support for the following ministry teams:
o Children, Youth, Women, Men, Hospitality, Missions
● Share in the shepherding responsibilities of the congregation

Evangelism / Local Outreach: 15%
● Inspire and encourage the church community to engage in evangelism
o Personally model a passion and lifestyle of evangelism
o Encourage and equip our church community to be involved in evangelism in their
everyday lives
o Encourage church community engagement through our Abby Impact initiative which provides funding for local ministry in our city

Staff Team Roles: 5%
● Participate with the staff team in planning and leading weekly services
● Preach up to 15% of the time depending on gifting and availability

Qualifications and Skills

We expect the successful candidate will embody the following characteristics:
● Naturally connects with people, creating a culture of inclusion and connection
● A love for youth and parents
● Takes initiative, self-directed and a creative problem solver
● Passion for evangelism that is personally modeled. If not gifted for evangelism, then at least practiced and effective in evangelism
● Demonstrates the ability to recruit, equip and encourage teams for specific outcomes
● Agility – ability to lead in more than one ministry area
● Education
o Ideally Bachelors in Biblical Studies or more
o Willing to be credentialed with the BCMB Conference
● Experience – Ideally 3 years plus in church or parachurch ministry context

The candidate must align with Mountain Park’s mission, vision and values as well as the theological tenets of the BCMB Conference.
