Job Description

The Communications and Events Assistant plays a key role in the execution of MCC Manitoba’s communications strategy. The Communications and Events Assistant is responsible for assisting the Communications Coordinator in content development, assets management, public relations and supporting various departments with their communications and events needs, ensuring that all MCC Manitoba communications align with the overall strategic messaging plan of the organization. 


  • Post-secondary degree in communications, marketing or equivalent experience required
  • One or more years of experience in writing or marketing an asset
  • Excellent written communication skills required
  • Experience with planning and organizing events required
  • Strong ability to assess/manage priorities and deadlines appropriately required
  • Experience working in a non-profit an asset
  • Experience with communications best practices, strategies and content development an asset
  • Familiarity with donor communications, stewardship and events promotion an asset
  • Strong comfort level with Microsoft Office, internet research, email and keyboarding skills required
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite and its various applications (Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator) an asset
  • Other audiovisual skills (such as photography or videography) an asset
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to relate to people in a positive and collaborative manner required
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative, as well as to collaborate as part of a team required
  • Valid driver’s license
