Job Description

Title: Director of Service Production (0.50 FTE on Pastor Pay Scale)

The Director of Service Production is a permanent position at McIvor Avenue MB Church. The Director of Service Production is accountable to the church through the Lead Pastor. The Candidate confesses Jesus Christ as Lord and must be able and willing to support the vision and ministry of the Church. The expectation is that this individual (along with spouse if applicable) would become a member of the church.



Duties and Responsibilities

1.     Leadership (10%)

  • Role model servant leadership that brings others alongside
  • Oversee and provide direction for Tech Teams (Sound, Livestream, ProPresenter) that supports the overall vision of worship ministry.
  • Collaborate with the pastoral team to see the vision for worship ministry translate to workable technological solutions.
  • Communicate direction to all volunteers involved in worship services (music teams, tech teams, readers, etc.)

2.     Equipping Tech Teams (40%)

  • Develop and work with tech teams (sound, computer) to dream, strategically plan, implement and evaluate Service Production Ministry on an ongoing basis
  • Recruit volunteers, build relationships and coach team leaders
  • Provide regular training and development opportunities for teams through ongoing input, accountability and resources
  • Encourage future leaders through recruitment and mentoring

3.     Administration (30%)

  • Maintain the schedule for all volunteers involved in Service Production (tech, music, readers, etc.)
  • Communicate service details weekly to all involved volunteers
  • Maintain online service platforms (McIvor Church YouTube channel)
  • Serve as an administrative support to music teams
  • Shape the Worship Ministry annual budgets in consultation with the Pastoral Team
  • Prepare a monthly Service Production report for Council
  • Purchase and maintain all relevant software and licensing related to worship service production

4.     Involvement in Worship Services (10%)

  • Occasional involvement in worship services (community news and prayer, possibly music team involvement, possibly preaching, etc.)

5.     Supporting Alternate Services (10%)

  • Act as the point person for all funerals and guest groups’ tech needs, providing these services yourself, or finding volunteers when needed
  • Assist the vision of the Holy Days Planning Team for Holy Days services

Peer Team Activities

  • A member of the McIvor staff team. Participate in staff team meetings and activities to promote and support McIvor’s mission and ministries
  • Work with all staff to promote and encourage team building and mentoring relationships in raising up a new generation of leaders

Key Relationships

  • The Director of Service Production will engage in regular reporting to the Lead Pastor, and is ultimately responsible to the Church through the Church Council (Executive).
  • A member of the Ministry Support Team (MST) shall relate to the Pastor of Service Production, serving as a support, resource and advocate in their ministry
  • Participate in relevant conversations on the McIvor Church Council

  • A growing and healthy personal relationship with Jesus Christ that is rooted in spiritual disciplines and demonstrated by the Great Commission
  • A servant spirit and a desire to enable others in their gifts and talents
  • Spiritual maturity, Team player, Teachable/learner

Education and Experience:

  • Should have completed some relevant training related to sound and video production
  • Should have at least two years of experience working with teams in the area of sound and video production
  • Proven leadership and teaching skills

Spiritual Gifts:

  • Evidence of a call and a passion for working with teams in the church to further worship and community
  • Verifiable ministry experience relating to tech and worship ministry
  • Well-versed in current technology and approaches for worship ministry
  • Theology is in agreement with the Mennonite Brethren confession of faith
  • Values organizational skills and ability to manage both teams and tasks in a non-threatening environment through delegation, accountability and evaluation
  • Displays good rapport with youth and adult volunteers
