Synopsis
MCC is hiring for a 6 month term position for the Food Security and Livelihoods (FSL) Coordinator.
The Food Security and Livelihoods Coordinator is a member of the Planning, Learning and Disaster Response (PLDR) department and is supervised by one of the department’s Co-Directors. The coordinator works to:
1. Resource and support program staff regarding best practices and planning, monitoring and evaluation in the food security and livelihoods sector, including review of project proposals, as well as relevant assessments, monitoring and evaluation.
2. Review and manage projects funded out of MCC’s account at Canadian Foodgrains Bank (CFGB).
3. Manage projects funded through MCC’s Agriculture and Livelihood Dedicated Fund.
4. Work with regional and provincial Donor Relations staff to connect them to food security and livelihood projects.

Qualifications
All MCC workers are expected to exhibit a commitment to: a personal Christian faith and discipleship; active church membership; and biblical nonviolent peacemaking.
• BA in international development or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in international development focusing on food security including food assistance agriculture or other livelihood interventions
• Familiarity with planning, monitoring and evaluation tools, results-based management and external donor project management.
• Ability to work independently and take initiative and responsibility with minimal supervision.
• Strong administrative and organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Personable manner and strong in-person, written and oral communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure and with deadlines.
• Proficiency in and/or ability to learn Microsoft Word, Excel, IBM Lotus Notes, MCC’s program database and intranet software.
• Strong command of the English language – both oral and written; second language preferred.
• Efficient, dependable and persistent in following through on tasks.
• Flexible working style that is able to adapt and prioritize attention to multiple tasks and competing demands.
• Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure and with deadlines.
• Willingness for potential to travel both internationally and domestically.

Responsibilities
Contact/Relationships:
This position requires extensive contact with MCC Area Directors, MCC Representatives, and other PLDR Coordinators in order to share food security and PME best practices. The position requires networking with Donor Relations staff at national, regional, and provincial levels and coordination with representatives of external donor organizations frequent contact with staff at Canadian Foodgrains Bank.

Supervision:
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Complexity/Competencies:
Must be able to interact with a variety of program staff internationally as well as Communications and Donor Relations staff domestically, and with peer agencies and partners. Must serve as a resource around best practices and PME for those doing FSL projects within MCC. Connects to Donor Relations staff providing highlights of MCC’s FSL work. Manages projects funded by MCC’s account at Canadian Foodgrains Bank.

Independent Action:
Must be a self-starter and leader in initiating and maintaining contacts with Area Directors, MCC Representatives, Program Directors, Associate Program Directors, and PLDR Coordinators regarding best practices in the FSL sector. Must be a motivator and support for MCC Reps and other program staff. Requires an ability to manage project budgets, to manage MCC projects at CFGB, and when, necessary, to advocate with CFGB staff for MCC projects.

End Result:
Effective resourcing of all MCC program related to food security and sustainable livelihoods through support for planning, monitoring, evaluation, and the promotion of key lessons in the sector.

Major Responsibilities and tasks:
1. Provide analysis and counsel to MCC program staff on the design, monitoring and evaluation of food security and livelihood projects (85%)
• Work with Area Directors and MCC Representatives, and MCC’s CFGB project officers in the development of project proposals for funding from MCC’s account at CFGB.
• Analyze and provide feedback on project proposals and reports related to food security and livelihoods.
• Manage and recommend food security and livelihood projects for approval by CFGB.
• Oversee MCC’s Agriculture and Livelihood Dedicated Fund, including allocating resources on an annual basis, and providing feedback on proposals and reporting.
• Provide support to MCC program offices with the possibility of international travel to assist with project planning and training related to CFGB and dedicated fund projects.
• Meet with MCC partners and conduct monitoring project visits, accompanied by MCC country staff
• Assist with other MCC project design and evaluation.
2. Interagency working groups and representation (10%)
• Participate in inter-agency working groups as determined by the PLDR Co-Director.
3. Communication with Donor Relations and Communications including Regional and Provincial offices (5%)
• Speak on behalf of MCC in churches, schools and other forums as requested by MCC Regional and Provincial offices.
• Interact with the media when requested.
• Provide Communications and Donor Relations with relevant materials for reporting on MCC’s disaster response and respond to inquiries as they arise.
