Temporary Gem Lake Wilderness Camp Leader
Our Gem Lake camp team is seeking energetic leaders to help serve this summer. Our camp is a ministry of Inner City Youth Alive which serves kids and youth living in Winnipeg’s North End. Gem Lake Wilderness Camp is set a world away from the pressures of the inner city. The trek from Winnipeg’s North End to camp is 250kms up in beautiful Nopiming Provincial Park. The camper fees are sponsored by the generosity of our ministry partners.
We’re seeking Christian leaders who have a heart for inner city kids and a hope to see lives transformed. We’re a relationally-focused ministry looking to develop long-term relationship and empower our campers to be local leaders making change in their community.

The following positions are available:
Position: Cabin Leader
We are looking for Cabin Leaders for July and August in 2019. We’re seeking leaders who are 17-25 years of age, love to have fun, and want to share their faith with others. The staff at Gem Lake Wilderness Camp are caring, serving, energetic, have a passion for the outdoors, and driven to empower and serve kids and youth from the inner city. Responsibilities include leading a cabin of 3-5 youth together with another counselor; participate in camp program activities, games and skits. This position includes orientation and staff training before summer as well as debrief time at the end of summer.
Optional Asset: Lifeguard with NLS or Bronze Cross, Bronze Medallion Certification
Position: Assistant Program Coordinator
This position runs from May 2019 through August 2019. In May and June you would work in our Winnipeg office, along with the Camp Program Coordinator, to help plan the summer camp programs. During July and August the role transforms into a senior counselor, as well as, helping to coordinate ongoing camp programs and activities. A driver’s licence would be an asset for this position.
Position: Camp-City Liaison Coordinator
The Camp-City Liaison works primarily out of our city office (418 Aberdeen Ave) and is a supportive role to our camp staff. The position runs July and August and responsibilities include: shopping and packing up food and supplies for the wilderness camp program, contacting/reminding campers of upcoming camp dates, and driving campers to-and-from camp. A Class 4 driver’s license is required (we will help with that). Applicant needs to be a confident driver, organized, self-motivated and able to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team.
