Job Description

The Manitoba MCC Thrift Shop Coordinator provides a vital link in the day to day relationships and operations between the Manitoba network of MCC Thrift Shops and MCC Manitoba. The Coordinator is directly responsible to the Director, Social Enterprise and works within the social enterprise team.

The Coordinator will be the primary day to day contact with the shops and provide advice, support and resources to help build effective operational practices in accordance with the values and principles of MCC. This will include working alongside managers to continue building stronger volunteer communities, effective backroom processes and retail floor practices. The Coordinator will implement group and network gatherings of shop managers to increase planning, learning and collaboration. The Coordinator will provide relevant marketing and communication support that helps promote the connection between the shop and the work of MCC, campaigns to create increased customer interest, and access to MCC materials and logo graphic standards. The Coordinator will be responsible for preparing consolidated monthly financial reporting on performance measures, sales, contributions, and other indicators for regular Manitoba Thrift reporting. The Coordinator will participate in the Canadian Thrift network and locally work closely in collaboration with the Manitoba Thrift Retail Assistant.
This is a full-time (37.5 hours/ week), salaried position.

  • Relevant post-secondary education such as Business Administration, Marketing or Non-Profit Management
  • 3+ years retail experience required preferably in the non-profit sector and/or second-hand market.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills with a focus on understanding detailed sales data and reporting.
  • A hands-on understanding of trends and practices in social media essential.
  • Ability to work in a non-hierarchal, collaborative, team environment alongside grassroots organizations essential.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and willingness to work with others in the social enterprise team to develop a strong and creative team focus, essential.
  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills, required.
  • Demonstrated problem/ conflict solving skills, required.
  • Understanding of and passion for MCC and its work.
  • Flexible work style; available for occasional weekend and evening work.
  • Availability for regular provincial travel, required.
  • Valid Manitoba Driver’s license, required.
  • Experience leading and training volunteers; Volunteer Management certificate preferred.
  • Experience in facilitating workshops and coordinating events preferred.
  • Experience in the creation and development of marketing communications materials preferred.
  • Access to a personal car for work purposes preferred.
